Sangiran is an Early Man Site in Central Java, at approximately 15 km northward from Solo. The area covers two Regencies, Sragen and Karanganyar. The 56 km2 area is in the northwest Slope of Mount Lawu, and today, is in the great natural basin known as Solo Depression, surrounded by hills. In the Southward is the range of Southern Mountains and in the northward is the range of Kendeng Mountains. (Suwita Nugraha, Wulandari, Iwan SB)
