To commemorate the journey of the research done by von Koenigswald at Ngebung hill, in the display area in Ngebung Cluster Early Man Museum there is a display about efforts and struggles in doing the research. The research or the archaeology excavation was done at Ngebung hill which stored a lot of mysteries, as it was expected, primordial culture was found in the excavation site. The excavation is done by “rending” the Ngebung hill which involved many locals.
Many important findings are found in the excavation. Those findings are used to reveal the “Missing Link”. The story of “rending” the Ngebung hill is presented in the display area complete with the founded fossils, the tools that were used and the excavation activity. This activity involved locals under command of supervisor.
With this display, which tells about the research process done by von Koenigswald at Ngebung hill along with the findings and the tools all describes the activity at that time, visitors could feel the atmosphere in the past, atmosphere of 1930s, when von Koenigswald’s research was going on. The display is an appreciation to those who has given everything for Sangiran site. Behind the display, visitors are shown with short film that will answer all question about the origin of human and their role to the world which will enrich our knowledge. (wiwit hermanto)
