Not many knows beside the five museums: Krikilan Cluster of Sangiran Early Man Site, Ngebung Cluster of Sangiran Early Man Site, Bukuran Cluster of Sangiran Early Man Site, Dayu Cluster of Sangiran Early Man Site, and Manyarejo Field Museum; Sangiran Early Man Site also has Nano Museum. It is called “nano” because of its size, smallest than the others.

Nano Museum lies amid forest of teak owned by Mr. Subur which located next to Pucung river that crosses Pucung hamlet, Dayu village, Gondangrejo district, Karanganyar regency, around 2 kilometers from Dayu Cluster early man museum. Human skull fossil was found not far from the museum and considered as a very important, a masterpiece finding in Sangiran site, the fossil is indexed with S17. The museum at the time was very difficult to access. The visitors had to walk along a footpath and even crossed the Pucung river.

The location area of Nano museum is a research area for National Archeology Research Center and Museé National de’Naturelle Historie (MNHN) since 2009. This museum provides information about results of the research done by the two institutions through the stone tools replica and animal bone fossils. (PM)
