Having won First Golden Award, Ajuwara Cultural Team Perform at Iberostar Hotel Nessebar

SOFIA – After receiving First Golden Orpheus award for ritual dance category at the XII Black Sea Fest Euro Folk 2015, Ajuwara cultural team from South Sulawesi performed in “Asian Show” program of Iberostar Hotel, on 6th September, 2015. This event is a collaboration between the Embassy of Indonesia in Sofia with this five-star hotel.
Ajuwara team performed with four South Sulawesi dances : Mario-rio, Tampi, Dendang Mangkasarak and Sambu that still have strong tradition of South Sulawesi. In addition to dances, the event also presented folk songs such as “Anging Mammiri” by Ichsan Syahban and invited guests to joint Modero dancing accompanied by traditional music.
Hotel Iberostar Nessebar is a hotel with the capacity for about 1,000 guests. Currently, the hotel is full with tourists, not only from Bulgaria but also from other European countries, such as England, Germany, France, Russia, and the neighboring countries around Bulgaria. Nessebar is a main tourism destination city in summer located at the Black Sea coast.
The achievement of Ajuwara cultural team at the Black Sea Festival, provoked comments from some South Sulawesi people, among other from the Chairman of IKA Unhas Jabodetabek Ir. Andi Wawo Razak. He said that he gives full support and commitment to the efforts of preserving the traditional values of the people of South Sulawesi, including efforts to promote the culture of South Sulawesi abroad. Also Mayor of Makassar Ir. Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto called on the phone Abdi Bashit, the Leader of the team, to congratulate them and express his pride of the achievements of Ajuwara team in Bulgaria.
In addition, the adviser of Ajuwara Cultural Team, DR. A. Majdah Agus Arifin Nu’mang, expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the team at the Black Sea Festival. Beside First Golden Orpheus award for the category of ritual dance, the team also received certificates of appreciation: “Essential Contribution award at Preserving and Developing of Traditional Folklore Art”; “Holder of the Honorary Sign of musical Feast Euro Folk”; “Discovery of the XII Black Sea Fest 2015”; and Laureate (the best performance).
With these achievements, the organizer of the festival gives a recommendation to the team to participate in the World Championship of Folklore 2016 to be held in August next year in Nessebar Bulgaria.
The team’s participation in the Festival is supported by the Embassy in Sofia, the IKA Unhas Jabodetabek, Kemdikbud, BRI, PLN and Askrindo.
