Sangiran Early Man Museum The Krikilan cluster has theme soil formations that transport the visitors to the past 2,4 million years ago. 2.4 million years ago, Sangiran was still a deep sea and underwent various changes due to natural processes. The Bukuran cluster has the theme of human evolution, giving the visitors new information about human evolution, which was originally coined by Darwin. The Ngebung cluster has the theme “The History of Sangiran Site,” where Von Koenigswald created the theory “Sangiran Flakes Industry.” This theory was made because there were many finds here, such as artifacts and other tools that are part of early human culture. The Manyarejo cluster has the theme of appreciation for society and researchers. This museum is a field museum that presents excavation conditions.

The museums are open on Tuesday–Sunday, 08.00 AM–15.30 PM, and closed on Monday. Why is the museum closed on Monday?

Every Monday, the museum is closed due to the display rooms’ maintenance. The maintenance is done by cleaning the collection and supporting facilities. The maintenance is done to have a positive impact not only on the collection but also on the visitor’s convenience. To maintain the convenience, the visitor is expected to participate in collection preservation, such as keeping the collection clean and not littering.

In other words, Monday is collection day; this is all for the sustainability of the dissemination of information carried out through the display. (Wiwit Hermanto)
