The reason of The Cultural Values Preservation Center (BPNB) is formed because there is an awareness of the cultural differences in each region, to know and absorb, along with utilizing respond to the tradition, culture, language, and history in Indonesia.

In Indonesia has 11 BPNB that has different fields of study and region. There are :

3. BPNB Jawa Barat
4. BPNB DI Yogyakarta
5. BPNB Kalimantan Barat
6. BPNB Bali
7. BPNB Sulawesi Selatan
8. BPNB Sulawesi Utara
9. BPNB Maluku
10. BPNB Papua
11. BPNB Kepulauan Riau

Main Task : To carry out the preservation aspect of tradition, belief, art, film, and history in the area.

Function :

1. Implementation of studies on aspects of tradition, belief, art, film, and history.
2. Implementation of tradition protection, belief, art, film, and history.
3. Implementation of development tradition, belief, art, film, and history.
4. Implementation of utilization of tradition, belief, art, film, and history.
5. Implementation of partnership in the field of preservation of tradition, belief, art, film, and historical aspect.
6. Implementation of documentation and dissemination of information on protection, development, and utilization of aspect of tradition, belief, art, film, and history.
7. Implementation of BPNB administrative affairs.
